I look forward to working with you to make your own writing clear, concise, and compelling. I will share the invaluable perspective of a writing coach, professional editor and experienced author. As a writing coach, editor and publisher, I have worked with authors to define their writing goals, polish their work, manage time and projects, market, write, edit and publish their manuscripts. I also assist job seekers with refining their résumés and cover letters. These skills can be put to work for you and your applications essays!
My services range from a one-time Basic edit for grammar, punctuation and typing errors, to a more comprehensive plan that helps you generate ideas, create a strategy and take your concept from idea to completed work.
As an experienced freelance author, I have published articles in magazines and professional journals, and more than 400 articles and blog posts on-line. My book publications include 18 books, both fiction and non-fiction. My publishing company, Celtic Loom Books, and its imprint Faith’s Loom Books accepts new writers and produces their books. I also enjoyed a career as a Registered Nurse with specialty training (U.S. Army Nurse Corps) as an Operating Room Nurse. I worked in the OR for 18 years, followed by more than two decades in Home care nursing., and certification as a Faith Community Nurse.
I graduated cum laud with two degrees from the University of Florida, including a B.A. in English and B.S. Political Science . I belonged to Phi Beta Kappa and was a Coca Cola Scholar. I worked as an academic advisor in the undergraduate Honors College at UF and received the honor of being a Unigo.com Top Counselor. I know what admissions officers want from application essays, because I’ve been one! As an advisor, I read over one thousand essays from students seeking admission to the ultra-competitive UF Honors Program.
As an undergrad, I gained admission to Ivy League schools and funded my entire college education with merit scholarships. After leaving college admissions, I began the EssayLady, worked as a professional editor, writing coach and wrote four books. I’ve shown hundreds of students how to write college application essays that stand out from the crowd. I’ve helped students gain acceptance to: Harvard, Columbia, Princeton, Cornell, The University of Pennsylvania, Wellesley College, Boston College, Johns Hopkins University, Yale, Notre Dame, Duke, Cal Tech, The Ohio State University, Georgia Tech, the University of Miami, the University of Florida, George Washington University, and dozens of other top-ranked public and private universities.
Thank you Joyce! It is so encouraging to hear that you loved my essay. When I finished, it impacted me and showed who I really am. It also touched the hearts of my parents and it even made my mom cry. The voice of the story is exactly my voice and you did a great job with getting it to 645 words. Again thank you so much, this made my day!
It looks great! Thank you so much for all your help! I'm so happy now that all the essays are finished :) I can't thank you enough!
